All back to work now; thank you for your patience while our lead times have stretched from 6 to 8 weeks to 10 to 12 weeks.
TAB II Classics Welder/Fabricator Mark Purslow has just finished competing at the Isle of Man TT on his Kawasaki ER6 Supertwin and ECTA Racing’s Kawasaki ZX6R. Many thanks to all of you who asked about his progress and sent him luck.
Anyone who followed the TT coverage this year will know that it was a difficult meeting as a number of practice sessions were cancelled or stopped because of adverse weather conditions and race days were moved to alternative days. This obviously affected all the teams with lack of practice time and this included Mark with ECTA Racing.
The Kawasaki ZX6R competing in the SuperSport races needed more development time to come to full potential, but unfortunately the weather conditions did not allow this. That said, Mark still managed a very respectable 115.237 mph average during qualifying, with a 39th place finish in the actual race recording a 114.163 mph average over the four laps for which he received a bronze replica trophy - picture shown here. Well done Mark!
On the Supertwin, Mark achieved 109.403 mph average during qualifying but the bike was overheating and losing power. Mike Cond, Mark’s mechanic, persevered with the bike engine and ECU and modified the fairings but again lack of testing meant they couldn’t test the race setup. On the first lap of the actual race the engine decided that enough was enough and a valve decided to kiss a piston resulting in a catastrophic engine failure; luckily Mark was able to pull to one side and stop safely and that ended the Isle of Man adventure for this year.
A special thanks to ECTA Racing as Mark’s main sponsor, and also not forgetting Safety Net Services, Made with TRUST, E&M Motorfactors, Surrey Stove Installations, Electra Motogear and all other supporters and contributors to Mark’s racing operation including Colin Purslow, Gwen Purslow and super mechanic Mike Cond.
Learning the 37 mile-plus mountain course is not an easy task and at TAB II Classics we commend anyone who has achieved this feat. We also sadly acknowledge that the meeting does not always give the desired outcome and wish to pass on our sincerest condolences to family and friends of the three riders who died this year. We also wish injured riders a full and speedy recovery.

TAB II Classics workshop will be closed for the 2 weeks of the Isle of Man TT races 26th May until 12th June 2017. We will do our best to respond to urgent emails in this period, but will not be available to answer telephone calls. Please accept our apologies for any inconvenience this may cause.
TAB II Classics welder fabricator Mark Purslow is the 2015 Lightweight Manx Grand Prix winner. This year he has put aside his Honda CBR400 so as to compete at a higher level. In 2017 he is riding a Kawasaki ER6 Supertwin, a Kawasaki ZX6R and a BMWS1000RR. He has signed up with ECTA Racing with additional backing from TAB II Classics and Safety Net Services and also not forgetting much needed help from Made with Trust, E M Motor Factors, Surrey Stove Installations and Electra Motogear.
So far this year he has been busy testing in Cartagena in Spain and at our local Tonfanau Road Racing track in Wales. He has raced at Olivers Mount Spring Cup, followed by his debut at the beginning of May at the NW200 in Northern Ireland.
This week he is off to the Isle of Man TT to compete in the 2017 Bennetts Lightweight race on the Kawasaki ER6 and in the Monster Energy Supersport races on the Kawasaki ZX6R. At the end of the TT race week he will take the BMWS1000RR and the Kawasaki ER6 down to Castletown on Isle of Man to the Post TT Billown circuit races.
We wish him the best of luck. Keep it upright Mark and have fun.

We had a stand up at Aberdare Road Races this weekend and had an amazing time. We watched some awesome racing and met loads of people - thanks to everyone who came over to say hello and a big thanks to Derek for inviting us.
The absolute highlight though had to be when the legendary John McGuinness (we are not worthy!!!) came over to our stand to say hello. He sat on our Mark's SR500 and Richard bored him to death talking about what we do; however saying that he did look very impressed and we feel honoured to have been able to tell him about us.

Hope to see you there.

Great news...We have been promised a Triumph Thruxton with the EFI system for us to design a tank and it should be with us soon.
We will post via this news page and also Facebook as soon as we are ready to launch these new tanks - so please check our Facebook page on a regular basis from May 2015.
We are sorry that we cannot take orders for EFI tanks just yet.

We are back on January 5th 2015. HAPPY NEW YEAR!
Our current lead time is 4 to 6 weeks.
We are starting back with a batch of Lyta Sprint style tanks. The base of each tank is different as they are designed for the bike for which they are ordered. We have a variety to make this time around including the Triumph T140, Norton Commando, Yamaha SR500, Hinckley Triumph Bonneville and of course the Norton Featherbed Wideline and Slimline frames, and the Norley.
Once we are through the Sprint style tanks, we will be working on Norvil style tanks for the Commando and the Hinckley Triumph with a few 5 Gallon Manx Style tanks for a bit of variety.
By the end of January we will be fabricating another batch of Moto Guzzi Tonti Frame tanks.
Alloy tanks for the Ducati Imola, Ducati Single, TT2 and 900SS will follow the Guzzi tanks. (We hope also to put through either an NCR or a Hailwood replica tank when we do these - yet to decide on a Pantah or Darmah base.)
Motorcycle seats in production right now include a Commando style seat for a Yamaha SR500, Norton Wideline and Slimline seats with alloy humps, another for a Yamaha XS650, one for a Ducati Imola and a seat designed to match the Norvil tank to go onto a Hinckley Bonneville.
We hope you have a good year for riding in 2015!>

We have just learned that there is a new guide book available written by Sean Pol Creachmhaoil. The book is titled YAMAHA RS SERIES Race replica DIY guide. What is relevant to us is that our Terry Baker is mentioned in the book. Terry built the tank that is featured heavily in the guide.

You might want to check out issue 186 of 100% Biker magazine.
There is a very nice article on a XS650 Cafe racer built by Thunder City Motorcycles in Leeds.
The bike has our Slippery Sam tank and we also made the seat cowl.
We have a "spare" XS650 Slippery Sam tank lying around the workshop so if you fancy building one yourself then drop me a line.

Good News... Mark Purslow has joined our team on a permanent basis (well when we can get him back from the Isle of Man GP that is!).
As a result of this we have been able to improve our lead times considerably.
We aim to manufacturer our standard tanks in 8 to 10 weeks from order - for tanks such as the Norton Featherbed Sprints and 5 Gallon tanks we intend to improve to 5 weeks or less.

From mid September 2014 we are starting our custom seat making service.
We are able to make café racer style seats to suit many motorcycles using one of our generic seat "hump" shapes.
We are happy to discuss your requirements - please contact us by phone or by email.
Please note that it may be necessary for you to send us your frame dimensions and you may also need to adapt your frame to allow for seat fixings.
The seat hump will be made out of 1.5mm aluminium. The seat pan will be 2mm aluminium and will be reinforced with fibreglass.
We can arrange for upholstery or you may wish to arrange this yourself. (We use a motorcycle seat upholsterer in the UK.)
Prices start from £150.00 for a basic seat pan and hump not upholstered. Upholstery available from £50.00.
